Nursing Philosophy, Theorist, Model or Conceptual Model Paper:
APA format paper – The intent of this assignment is for the student to demonstrate
the ability to synthesize readings and write clearly using the APA style. The student can
select a nursing philosophy, a conceptual model, or nursing theory of a nursing theorist.
The body of the paper is not to exceed 6 pages in length, 12 font, double spaced. It
will be graded based on compliance with APA format and ability to present material
through the written word. Students should review the Criteria for grading of the APA
Format Paper located within the syllabus.

Resources:
This paper should reflect the components as outlined in grading rubric below. Review of
professional nursing and health care literature must be reflected in the reference list. A
typical reference list would include three to five journal articles, one or two related web
sites, and any applicable books. A reference list containing only web resources or only
books is not appropriate.

• Patient 1:
o Nursing Diagnosis (to be included in the paper) => Fatigue related to overwhelming psychological and emotional demands as evidenced by patient’s comments.
o Patient Scenario:
A 57-year-old man presented with crusted lesions on his thorax that had developed over a period of 2 months. He had occasional bloody discharge, without pain, and did not have constitutional or other systemic symptoms. Multiple skin biopsies eventually confirmed the diagnosis of cutaneous

T-cell lymphoma. Computed tomography revealed no lymphadenopathy or metastases. No evidence of bone marrow involvement was found. The patient received a course of photopheresis, with a good response. Three months later, he presented with ataxia. Imaging revealed infiltration involving

the pons and cerebellum, with new pleuropulmonary nodules. Lung-biopsy findings were consistent with recurrent low-grade T-cell lymphoma. The

patient received photopheresis therapy and then underwent autologous stem-cell transplantation. During his today’s visit, 10 months after

transplantation, he continued to have remission but continues to receive photopheresis treatment.
• Patient 2:
o Nursing Diagnosis (to be included in the paper) =>Anxiety related to social pressures of invasive and life changing surgery of gender reassignment surgery.
o Patient Scenario:
25-year-old patient is admitted for part 2 of gender reassignment surgery from female to male. Patient expressed cues of anxiety due to the number of surgeries requires to complete part 2. These surgeries include Hysterectomy and bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy and a phalloplasty.

The healing process of these multiple surgeries include months of recovery time and physical therapy. Patient will need to focus on the end goal of this elective surgery and understand the possible complications that can arise. Adaption is key to the new physical and psychological changes.
