Problem Statement
While social media uptake is high, there are still concerns about the usage and literacy for effective use of social media platforms at Idaho University. Undertaking my studies, I have come across a problem where lack of enough information to handle new media platforms and knowing which online websites are legit to operate on is a big problem that should be researched.
Narrative
Being in University puts one in a world where one is exposed to many learning opportunities. As we strive to enlarge our learning and knowledge to fit into the new world, we tend to forget that other people on the Internet are looking for opportunities to better their lives. One of the ways that people find it easy to make fast dollars is through online scamming and media.
University students are one of the main targets of these scammers. Cyberbullying and cybercrimes have been one of the things I have encountered, mostly at Idaho University. Frauds have established ways to recruit into terrorism among the youth and other users of online spaces. There are instances where students are trying to look for internship opportunities, and there are bloggers who have established fake opportunities where people submit their personal information. Once this information is uploaded to their blogs, they turn it to blackmail and other criminal-related activities that jeopardize the life of students to the point of causing tension and panic if they don’t cooperate.
Kairos
The increased use of media platforms can help students become wiser consumers of American media, understand the American culture to promote their talents and understand various opportunities that Americans have put out there to help them become great people of tomorrow. Along these same lines, teaching media literacy will help young people to foster critical thinking in students to increase and sharpen their skills and defense mechanism from being misled.
Researching how much university student interacts with media will help the enhancement of the project, which will seek to speak to the significance of corporate and organizational communication to appreciate the significance and discuss the level of media literacy among university students that are in line with American governance according to how they understand it’s new invention and technology are emerging so are scammers skills sharpening to take advantage of desperate youths who have the anxiety to better their lives after university education. Therefore, there is a need to research this issue before it explodes to losing educated youths due to various reasons, such as adjusting to new life.
Audience
The research aims to ensure greater transparency, fairness, and accountability in all high-value media web site like Facebook, Twitter, and integral because our major target group is about 90% of people between the age of 15-35 on these platforms. The project will be of great significance for its potential as a source of knowledge to the public and bidding entities on how the American government process works in bringing youths to a brighter future and enhancing good relationships with them, especially with new technology.
