You are the registered nurse (RN) on duty for the morning shift in the Emergency Department (ED) and have been assigned to care for Mr Jason Crawshaw. Your shift commenced in the ED of a regional hospital at 0700 hours on Saturday August 2, 2014. Examine the case study and address the following questions. Be sure to clearly relate your answers to the person in the case study:
1. Undertake an assessment of Jason and initiate emergency nursing actions. (Maximum 500 words).
2. Demonstrate knowledge of collaborative care needs of the person in the case study. (Maximum 500 words).
3. Prioritise the nursing care needs of the person in the case study. Develop a plan of care for Jason for your shift that recognises his special needs. Please note this should not be a nursing care plan but a plan of what you would do for the person in the case study and the care priority order for your shift. Be sure to include ethical and legal issues as well as nursing interventions to assist family members cope with their loved one’s illness and hospitalisation (Maximum 2000 words).
