Introduction

The great Gatsby is one of the most celebrated novels. This novel was written by F Scott. This novel has become one of the best read novels of all times. This however, is not the case with many people who have criticized it. Written in 1925, this novel has not received the right kind of audience that the writer demanded for. The novel has also gone ahead to be authored and aired as a movie. This book as indicated by the editor to be very vague and which lacked flow.

This novel is based on a young rich man called Gatsby. This novel is strategically scripted in a town that is fictional of west egg. This town is in an island and acted during the summer. The main character jay is a millionaire and one who is said to be very wealthy. The story of the novel is based on this young and rich man trying to fight for the love of a beautiful lady called Daisy Buchanan. This novel is said to cover some of the themes that are considered by many the American dream. Some of these themes include decadence, change resistance, idealism and social upheaval. These themes are said also to show the ways of jazz. This novel is designed to fit the life of 1920 when the economy and things like music grew.

This novel is said to be based after a man named nick rents near jay who is said to hold and host many parties. Buchanan has a husband, but who has an affair. Jay is said to have had an affair with Daisy who is nick’s cousin. These parties are used by Jay as an incentive to get Daisy back to his life. Jay uses Nick as the bait who will help him get Daisy back to his life. This is well done as they get back together. Daisy husband realizes that there is an affair between the two during a party. This makes Tom take her wife to New York to confront her. This is where Tom makes it clear to Daisy about the origin of Jay’s wealth. He explains that he is a criminal who steal all that money from undertaking illegal activities. Hurt by this, Jay kills Daisy using the car of Tom’s lover. They hunt down for Jay who they kill and George the husband of Tom’s lover kills himself. This shows the idea and theme of resistance to change when Daisy refuses to accept that Jay is a criminal who ends up killing her. This also shows that people can do anything on the extreme of love.

Conclusion

This is enriched with the life of 1920’s. This book has however, lacked the originality and just like the editor said, it is vague. This book is very important to those who are in love as they should realize that they can go to any limit to achieve and fight for their love. This book is however, exciting and good to read.
