You are the Business Architect at Gamma Telco a service-driven business (Gamma Telco case studies Reynolds). Gamma Telco has just decided to acquire Delta Telecom Billing a product-driven business (Delta Telecom Billing case study). Case studies are attached.
a. Discuss how you would develop an integrated business architecture model for the new Gamma Telco.
b. Would the new architecture reflect a product-driven service-driven price-driven or hybrid business structure?
c. Create a visual representation of the above model.

Much of the focus in this weeks web article readings concerns the importance of using enterprise architects that are well-rounded and equipped with a number of important skills that set them apart from the average IT architect/developer business strategist or project manager.
Consider an example in your organization or another you are familiar with or research where you believe one of the following is true: 1) EA is needed to transform ineffective processes/systems or 2) EA was attempted with limited success or 3) EA was carried out successfully (case # 2 or #3 are preferred if you have seen EA in action).
a. Describe three specific enterprise architect skills from those discussed in the articles that you believe were or would be most important to success in your EA program example (in the case of a failed example these may be skills that were lacking).
b. Explain your reasoning for choosing these three skills as key.
c. Do a Business Layer modeling to help visually relate the importance of these 3 skills by showing them as functions done by actors in certain roles in an organization.
Question 3: (about 125 words + diagram)
The two Foreword sections and Chapter 1 in The Art of Enterprise Information Architecture describe how changes in business environments and technology are driving the need for knowledge and information to be leveraged more effectively.
A. In your organization (or one you are familiar with or research) describe in words specific business pressures/changes that are creating a need for improvement in some aspect of the current information architectures. Describe how you would see the ideal capability of a to-be architecture that addresses these challenges and how you would express the vision for such an improved architecture.
B. Use the Motivation Extension and the Business Layer concepts properly labeled to do the same description visually. Do not concern yourself with the relationship lines.
Questions 4: (about 125 words)
Monte Ford Senior Vice President and CIO American Airlines Incorporated/AMR Corporation once stated: If I have a company full of technologists that work in business and do the job in business every day Im happy. Thats why we transplant people from the business unit into the technology organization and then send them back out. Even if theyre technology savvy its a requirement to work here to have technology background if youre coming into the management training program or whatever.
Explain why it would be a good idea or not for individuals to have an enterprise architecture background (that is some experience on the EA team) in order to move into higher levels of organizational management.
Provide four reasons supporting your position.
