Discuss how police use to function during the conception of LE agencies in the 1800s. Discuss some of the problems that policing faced, discuss why there were so many problems, and discuss how police officers were selected back then.

Next discuss how policing began to improve and the reasons why corruption began to be eliminated little by little. Discuss some of the people that were accredited with professionalizing policing and some of the ideas that they implemented that helped to professionalize policing. There were two key figures that I am looking for in particular.

Finally, discuss whether you believe policing has come a long way since the 1800s, or if you believe that corruption still runs ramped in policing. If you do believe that corruption is still a big problem in American policing tell me why.
