Impeachment!

Unless you really have your head buried in the sand, you know that the U.S. House of Representatives is conducting an impeachment inquiry of President Donald Trump. The official hearings began this week and it is extremely interesting to watch. This is an historic event as there have previously only been three other impeachment inquiries in U.S. history – two ending in impeachment and one with a resignation.

* Please watch at least an hour (or read transcripts) of testimony and questioning of one of the witnesses of your choice. Do some additional research about the previous impeachments in the U.S. (Johnson and Clinton) and impeachment inquiries that led to resignation (Nixon). Read the actual Constitutional provision about impeachment, then answer the following:

1. What are some of the important facts that you heard/read for the portion of the witness testimony that you observed?

2. From your research and observation, what is the impeachable offense that House Democrats allege President Trump has committed?

3. The inquiry is led by the House Democratic party; do you feel like their arguments are compelling? Ie: Should the Democrats move forward with the articles of impeachment?

4. Based on your answer to #3, why or why not? Please provide details, evidence, and any support from your observations and research.
