Choosing a research topic:

  • Choose a topic associated with organizational behavior.
  • Research the library databases for credible scholarly sources.
  • Analyze and summarize important aspects of the topic in relation to organizational behavior, leadership and course learning outcomes.

Note: Excellent subject choices are represented by the textbook chapter titles with some narrowing of the topic to make it more manageable. For example, if you decided to research and write about organizational culture, you may want to narrow it to “Organizational Culture in the Automobile Industry”.

Purpose:

  • Broaden the understanding of a specific area of organizational behavior.
  • Develop and improve research, analysis, and project orientation skills.
  • Provide experience for self-expression and effective writing, all of which are requirements often encountered in managerial positions.

Important information and instructions:

  • A minimum of 5 full pages not including the title page and reference page.
  • A minimum of 4 peer-reviewed sources (not including the text book) must be cited in the text of the paper.

  • When writing the paper, please remember that direct quotes are NOT permitted.
  • The paper should include APA formatting (see the APA template).
  • Accurate In-text citations must be included.
  • The paper must be written in third person.

Writing assignments must be properly cited and referenced, written in APA format (12 point Times New Roman, double spaced, unless specified otherwise), and include both a cover page and a reference page. See the APA template located in the APA format module. Please refer to the FSW Library for additional information on APA writing requirements.

Opinions should be expressed in third paper such as, “This researcher…”, “This student…”, Do not use “I”, “we”, “our”, “you”, or any other forms of indefinite you.

Grading:

  • Thorough analysis of topic in relation to organizational behavior, leadership, and course learning outcomes.
  • APA documentation and formatting style used appropriately (including in-text citations, reference entries, and format).
  • Articles and discussion addressing the topic
  • Spelling, grammar, and writing style
