According to the text, the Hatch Act defines prohibited activities of public employees. Analyze the significance of these prohibitions with regard to an individual’s political actions. Provide a rationale for your response.

Some of the key activities of public servants that was prohibited by the Hatch Act of 1939 is political activity. Public servants cannot use public funds for relief or public works for electoral purposes. Also, these officials must not make any promise of job, promotion, financial assistance, contracts, or any other benefits to get campaign contributions or political support. So pretty much they have to be in office because their job qualifications. To go a little further they are not to participate in political campaigns. These things were put in place and are very important because a person that is a public servant should abide by the fact that; it is illegal to use public funds for relief or public works for electoral use. What a public servant can legally do is to take an active part in political campaigns. They are not prohibited from taking part in political campaigns in accordance with his political beliefs and interests.

Analyze the key ethical challenges of privatization. Take a position on whether the private sector should be responsible for program outcomes of a public program or service. Provide a rationale for your response.

Some key challenges of privatization are that it creates monopoly power in the hands of a very low number (selected few) , lower wages are paid to workers, and negative consequences are ignored. Further, there is wealth inequality, social division, and diminishing marginal utility of wealth. But, the private sector should not be responsible for program outcomes of public programs or service. If that’s the case there is no need for the separation of public and private. When breaking things down administrative strength, financial strength, and the constitutional mandate of the government are powerful. What the government can do the private sector cannot and vice versa.
