Hey guys!

I started thinking about how synonymous Excel is with spreadsheet applications and how Excel has consistently been the top choice when it comes to spreadsheet applications. However, Excel is not a free application, which is sometimes easy to forget as we get many Microsoft Office applications for free as UT students. So I started to think about the free alternatives to Excel and whether or not they compare.

I came across this article that lays out a few free alternatives to Excel. I believe out of the alternatives presented, I was only familiar with Google Sheets. So, let me know what you guys think. Are these alternatives substantial? Would you ever switch to any of the alternatives if you had to pay for Excel? Even if you didn’t? What are some features you would absolutely need in a spreadsheet application?
