Hi,

I would like help setting up a simple t test and ANOVA for this data. these were my instruction from my professor.

You did a lot of work on the t-test and ANOVA part, but this is really much more simple. For the t-test, just form two groups with one of your variables. For example, you could group anxiety into high and low at the median. For your ANOVA, make three groups (high, medium, and low). No calculations are necessary.

X      Y        x        y       x^2          y^2                    xy

5      1     – 0.9     -3        0.81           9                  2.70

10    6      4.1       2        16.81          4                  8.20

5     2      – 0.9     -2        0.81            4                  1.80

11    8       5.1      4         26.01         16                 20.40

12    5       6.1      1          37.21         1                  6.10

4      1      -1.9     -3          3.61           9                  5.70

3      4      -2.9       0          8.41          0                        0

2      6      -3.9       2         15.21         4                  -7.80

6      5      0.1         1          0.01          1                   0.10

1      2      -4.9       -2        24.01         4                    9.80

Sums

59    40     0         0           132.9        52                  47

Means: Mean of x .9  Mean of y

Correlation of anxiety  exam and hours studied, +0.5654

Degrees of freedom  10-2= 8,   so R value = 0.632.  This correlation is not a significant one sense 0.5654 < 0.632
