Deming Prize 

In a non-profit organization founded in the year 1993 in California by statistician Deming with the intention of advancing commerce, prosperity and peace. The institute fosters understanding of Deming system. It inspires individuals and organizations to make a difference, think differently and ask questions that will lead to new knowledge. It encourages challenging traditional management practice and beliefs by encouraging innovation and change in today’s competitive global market (Mohanty, 2008, 718). It proposes introducing Dr, Denning’s philosophies on quality control, management and leadership for organizations and institutions that can lead them to success. It focuses on education and research to help members gain knowledge to transform and the power to succeed.

EFQM

Is a regional non –profit organization based in Brussels- Belgium that is responsible for improving the economy of the European region through increased competitiveness (Ehlers & Pawlowski, 2006, 93). It was established in 1989 and has a model that it uses in guiding its members realized the intended goal that majorly addresses three critical issues of Good Practice Competition, Commitment to Excellence and Internal Assessing Training. Its vision is struggling for sustainable excellence that inspires organizations to achieve by engaging leaders to learn, share and innovate using the model that EFQM has designed to its members.

Dubai Quality Award (DQA)

Is a non- profit organization based in UAE that is mandated with the task of providing forums and learning facilities to promote business excellence practices that guarantees sustainable improved quality. It has various membership categories that include student, investor, individual, corporate and affiliate that serves both private and government organizations.

Differences between the three models

EFQN is a regional body responsible for improving quality in services and goods across the region of Europe while DQA is a national organization that works for institutions only in UAE. Deming Prize, on the other hand, works with organizations and individuals across the globe to improve quality and standards of products offered. In terms of location DQA is found in UAE, in the Middle East, EFQM is based in Brussels and Deming Prize in the US. Deming Prize has been majorly directed by the philosophies of its founder that set models and standards that guide its activities unlike the other two organizations of DQA and EFQM that ideologies are not structured through an individual’s thoughts but a group. DQA works within one country, EFQN within the region of EU and Deming Prize globally.

Similarities between the three models

The similarities between the three organizations are that all are concerned with same objective and goals of raising the standards of quality institutions , individuals and organizations that work close with them (Mitra, 2012, 529). All the models provide training to people that they work with the objective of raising the standards of services and goods under their control. The three institutions are both non-governmental organizations that do not work for profit.
