As mentioned in chapter 11 the Texas Constitution requires a balanced budget…meaning the state will not spend more than it brings in through revenues. Some of the implications might be that Texas has to limit its spending in certain areas. Is that necessarily a bad idea? Are there some problems, issue or areas that are being neglected due to not dedicating enough money towards it? What are some of the areas that Texas ranks low on the list among the 50 states in spending? What would you increase and decrease spending on? In the United States we are more than 20 trillion dollars in debt. As a country we spend more on various programs that we collect through various taxes. Do you think the Federal government should maintain a balanced budget like Texas, no matter the circumstances. If not, why should Texas and the federal government act differently? |
