Assessing your Leadership Skills
In this week’s case, you researched four essential management concepts: planning, organizing, leading and controlling. For the SLP, you will complete a self-evaluation which will include a plan for growth/development and skill-building as you progress through your degree program.
You are asked to assess yourself in each area of the four essential management concepts researched for the case.
- An honest written assessment is required for each attribute/skill
- A growth/development plan is to be included
- Look at upcoming classes, training at work and online opportunities for training you could pursue to invest in improving your skill set.
Keep in mind that we all experience our first supervisory position. We each have to critically look at our own skills so we can become better leaders over time. Undergraduate studies offer the chance to try new things and be ready when advancement opportunity is available. Even if you have years of management experience, it is important to keep skills up to date in order to make the next step in your career path.
