individual differences in reasoning and decision making, also related to dual processing – perhaps you could relate to that.
Research interests:
Quantitative, Empirical in nature
My research interests are in higher mental processes and primarily in thinking, judgement and decision-making (JDM), and their linguistic aspects. I would be happy to supervise projects relating to these research areas, and in particular issues relating to factors that either facilitate or hinder reasoning and JDM, and individual differences in reasoning and JDM, especially with dual processing aspects. These can be applied but do not have to be. There are plenty of classic tasks in these areas (e.g. belief bias, conjunction fallacy, etc.) which are suitable for final year projects. Projects should be quantitative and experimental, or quasi-experimental (that is, you can combine experimental paradigms with measures of individual differences). I will not supervise purely questionnaire design, or qualitative work.
There is also a lot of work on individual differences in reasoning and decision making, also related to dual processing – perhaps you could relate to that.
